Unlike many other smaller resorts in the Grand Domaine, Auris offers a lot of appropriate skiing for beginners and progressing beginners, with 5 separate starter slopes to choose from. You can also get take lifts across to the beginners slopes in the starter area in Les Bergers, Alpe d'Huez for a change of scenery.
Whether you're a timid intermediate, or you're raring to go, the Alpe d'Huez Grande Domaine has a wide range of runs to suit your ability. There are lovely, sweeping blue runs down to Oz en Oisans, and mid-mountain above Alpe d'Huez. For more ambitious intermediates, there are tricky reds at the top of the DMC cable car, or try the Bartavelles red from the Dome Des Petites Rousses - the slopes are usually in good condition and the scenery is beautiful.
From immense off-piste possibilities to high-altitude skiing and an array of black runs, the ski area surrounding Auris en Oisan is a haven for experts. The 16km Sarenne black run is a popular choice, with lots of steep sections and moguls - just head to the peak of Pic Blanc. The tunnel run is also a notoriously tricky 3km slope, with an actual tunnel section, or head up the Lievre Blanc chairlift for more testing slopes and two mogul runs.
Part of the Grand Rousses Massif, Auris en Oisan isn't too far from the glorious skiing on the Sarenne Glacier. Located at 3,300m above sea level, the glacier boasts a majority of black runs which are ideal for adventurous experts, and there's even the 16km Sarenne run that takes you all the way back to Alpe d'Huez.
