Eurostar sets aside trains so skiers can travel from London St Pancras or Ashford, Kent directly to the Alps.
Checking in on the snow train is a piece of cake, plus there's more space than on a plane, you can bring your own food and drink, and baggage allowance is designed for skiers and snowboarders. You can even kiss long transfers goodbye, since the train takes you to the bottom of the mountain.
If you travel by day, it'll take about the same time, door-to-door, as flying. Take the overnight train and it'll be longer but you'll get two extra days of skiing – as you'll arrive early Saturday morning and leave late the following Saturday evening. You get accommodation and meals as per your holiday booking.
For a travel alternative that's friendly on your wallet, your schedule and the environment, you can't beat the Eurostar ski train:
The ski train goes from London or Ashford to Moûtiers, Aime la Plagne and Bourg St Maurice, which offer access to the following resorts:
Aime la Plagne (1)
Bourg St Maurice (4)
You can also find ski train holidays by viewing our ski deals and selecting a London Eurostar station in the Leaving From field.
Eurostar's conditions of carriage create a considerate environment for all passengers – a big part of why so many love the snow train.
On the day train, you're allowed up to 4 cans or bottles of beer, or 1 bottle of wine, but no spirits are allowed. You can't carry or drink any alcohol on the overnight train. It's not sold behind the bar and you won't be able to get any packed in your baggage through check in. Only non-alcoholic drinks in sealed bottles are allowed through station security.
You'll be allocated a seat but it's not always guaranteed that you and your group will be seated together. We'll do our best to get the seats you request but you may be given seats in separate carriages – seating will be confirmed when you get your travel documents. Remember, you can always get help and advice from your agent or rep.
If you've got a moment, read the full conditions of carriage.
