Festival season is here, but forget muddy wellies and warm ciders. Just add snow and say hello to pristine piste and ice cold drinks.
Catch top Edinburgh fringe comedians – including the likes of Marcus Brigstocke, Andrew Maxwell and Kai Humphries – straight from the ski slopes at Austria’s “funniest show on snow” – Altitude Comedy Festival. The venue is Mayrhofen in the Austrian Tirol and the shows will take place from 11-17 December 2016.
Altitude Festival hosts some of the world’s biggest comics. Previous names to have graced the stage include John Bishop, Eddie Izzard, Jimmy Carr, Tim Minchin, Bill Bailey and Sean Locke to name just a few, so if there’s no one on the line-up who takes your fancy just yet, you can bet there will be soon!
The festival takes place over an intense five days of three shows daily, and on the final night of the festival there’s typically a surprise event. This year Altitude intends to top the week off with a spectacular Festival of Light – lighting up the town of Mayrhofen with incredible illuminations, free Glühwein and some Austrian snacks to warm you up. Also, as it’s Christmas , Mayrhofen will be laying on Austria’s best Christmas market in the nearby enchanted forest.
Over the years, Altitude Festival has become one of the world’s most sought-after shows for both comedians and comedy fans alike. This year, with the dates switched from spring to winter, winter sports fans can get in on the action too, getting loads of laughs and their snow fix, all in one go.
Crystal Ski Holidays are offering a week half-board at the Fun & Spa Hotel Strass from £562 per person with flights from Gatwick to Innsbruck and transfers, departing on 10 December 2016. A VIP wristband costs £752 and gets you entrance to all shows, a free bottle of wine or up to four beers for the gala show, reserved seating, a meet & greet with the comedians and an Altitude t-shirt.
Altitude Wristbands also get you a day’s access to the Hintertux Glacier, which recorded a 99.9% chance of snow on these dates over the last ten years.
