Ask Eddie the Eagle

live skiing myth-busting clinic 8 November

Whether you are a skier who’s been bashing up and down the slopes for season after season, or you’ve never clipped into a pair of skis in your life, a skiing holiday with friends or family is pretty tough to beat.

However, for many non-skiers and boarders, although they like the concept of hitting the slopes in theory, there are many misconceptions surrounding the winter sports industry.

  • Isn’t skiing really expensive?
  • It’s dangerous though, surely?
  • What happens if there’s no snow?
  • Where do you go for the best skiing?
  • What time of year can you hit the slopes?

Eddie the Eagle live skiing myth-busting clinic

Have you got a burning question to ask about skiing or snowboarding?

Log in and watch a live and interactive webTV show with Michael Edwards, (better known as ski jumper Eddie the Eagle).

24 years ago, Michael Edwards put British skiing on the international map when he took on the world’s best ski jumpers at the Calgary Winter Olympics. Transformed into an overnight superstar for his distinct lack of ski-jumping ability, Eddie the Eagle captured the hearts of sports fans around the world for his ‘give it a go’ attitude.

In truth, Eddie was and still is a highly proficient skier and this year he’s on a mission to help Brits overcome their fears of skiing – whether it’s a fear of falling over, looking silly or even spending too much money on a skiing holiday.

So if you are confused about any of the myths about skiing then log onto our live and interactive WebTV where Eddie the Eagle is joined by Vicky Norman of Ski Club Great Britain and Holger Gassler form Tirol Tourist Board where they will tell you everything you need to know.

This expert trio will tell you all there is to know about skiing and boarding, and put to rest those niggles getting in the way of enjoying these fantastic sports.

  • Show date: Thursday 8th November
