Where To Eat In Pas de la Casa
Pas is blessed with great restaurants, with food ranging from gourmet and traditional to burger and chips.
A place that’s not to be missed is ‘La Perla Negra’ which translates to ‘The Black Pearl. ’ Inside it’s designed to look like the famous pirate ship from Pirates of the Caribbean. There are ornate candle holders on each table, huge goblet wine glasses and pictures of Johnny Depp dotted around the restaurant. The food is great quality and brilliant value for money. Their famous ‘Unlimited Ribs’ is the La Perla Negra’s claim to fame and under €20. The ribs are amazing, unlimited and come with salad and chips. Bargain.
If you’re feeling cheesy and after a traditional raclette then head to Restaurant Pizzeria. Here you’ll get meat, potatoes, bread and the raclette cheese on the traditional melting device. It’s roughly €20 per person.
El Capa is a steak house that cooks their steaks using a wood burner. This restaurant is more expensive than other eateries in Pas (roughly the same price that you would pay in the UK) but it’s totally worth it for a mid-week treat.
The Manzano Apartments cafe is cheap and good quality. Here you can get a four cheese pizza and a glass of wine for €5. The pizza is massive and they use decent premium cheese. You can also get kebabs, hotdogs, chicken nuggets and chips, all with a drink. The Olympiades is the Manzano’s sister hotel and they specialise in decent, hearty meals after a long day on the slopes.
Going For A Drink? Here’s Our Top Tip…
A top tip is to purchase a V.I.P wrist band. This entitles you to happy hour deals and is purchased from your rep for €5. Deals such as 2 for 1 on all drinks between certain times, €2 for all drinks and free wine with meals during certain times are what you can expect, making it even better value.
BEST BARS IN PAS DE LA CASA
Once you’ve lined your stomach, it’s time to see what Pas bars have to offer.
THE RED LION
A British bar that is massively popular as it always shows all the big sports matches – it even has a club attached which has a very large projector for important games. Happy hour is 8pm-10pm Sunday to Friday and is €2 for a pint or local spirit and mixer.
If you’re scene is indie and rock than be sure to visit Underground. This club plays a mixture of old and new favourites and has a laid back atmosphere. 11:30pm- 12:30pm is 2 for 1 on all drinks.
Paddy’s Irish Bar is a favourite on the Crystal bar crawl. Happy hour is 8pm-10pm Sunday to Friday excluding the bar crawl. They play some amazing drinking games including ‘skier’s vs. boarders’ where volunteers are hung upside down and have to down questionable cocktails. I tried to stay away from this.
Shamrocks is another Irish bar. It’s 50% off all drinks during karaoke Wednesday 8pm-10pm and all of Thursday. It’s a chilled out bar, which makes it a great place to relax with friends or to take a break from the slopes.
Ice Igloo bar is located on the slopes and serves hot wine, champagne and Oysters. The price for a small cup of hot wine is €4 so it’s more expensive than any other bars in Pas, but totally worth it. The exterior is carved from ice and so is most of the inside of the bar. The seats are carved out of the snow and decorated with animal skins so they’re comfy (and surprisingly warm) to sit on.
