A peaceful Lappish resort in the Arctic Circle, offering a true winter escape.
- Secluded resort in the Arctic Circle, perfect for getting away from it all.
- Small ski area that's good for beginners and families.
- Try snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice fishing and more.
Speaking of skiing, there are 13km of runs here, with a mix of green, blue, red and black to cover all bases. And most importantly, lift passes are included with your holiday. Beginners in particular will be well taken care of – the nursery area is right next to the hotel, and there are some longer gentle runs to help you progress. If you fancy trying something different, there are 75km of cross-country tracks to explore.
When you’re not on the slopes, there’s plenty of activities to get stuck into. Take a snowmobile safari through the forest, go in search of the elusive Northern Lights, or make like the locals and unwind in a sauna.
There’s no town here, so off-slope life centres around the Hotel Suomutunturi. It’s got a restaurant, bar and small shop where you can stock up on essentials. And it's always worth stopping to say hi to the neighbours – a herd of lovely reindeer live in the field right next door. Stay in one of the hotel rooms, or opt to head 1.5km away to the cosy log cabins for a truly picture-perfect winter getaway.
