- Loads of great winter activities, including rides by reindeer, husky or snowmobile.
A very short transfer from Kittila airport, Levi is full of adventures. The resort centre is located right at the foot of the main ski lift, and there are 17 floodlit pistes to keep keen skiers busy well into the evening. The uncrowded slopes are a world away from the well-populated pistes of central Europe. And as one of Finland’s most famous resorts, Levi also hosts World Cup ski events every year – a measure of the quality of some of the slopes here.
There are huts dotted around the mountain with log fires and grills, so you can save a bit of money at lunchtime by taking sausages and marshmallows to sizzle.
Levi also has full range of activities well beyond the great skiing, like excursions to a reindeer farm, husky sled rides and snowmobile safaris to discover the Arctic Circle’s unique wildlife.
The resort itself is compact and colourful with a variety of shops and around 60 restaurants. It's almost North American in appearance, and the wooden buildings always give off a welcoming air, particularly to families and couples. You'll see little ones being towed around the resort on sledges, which can be bought fairly cheaply and are a fun way to make your way around. The friendliness of the native Lappish people adds a final layer of warmth to every holiday.
Fun fact, Levi also claims to have the purest air in the inhabited world.
