A perfect beginner and family ski resort just 45 minutes from the airport, Beitostølen has gentle slopes, immaculate grooming and quiet pistes. The flight’s under two hours from the UK so you’ll be on the piste in no time. Or, if you don’t want to ski for your whole trip then there’s a big range of other activities. You’ve got standard activities like snowmobiling, but also newer - and very fun - activities like airboarding. In the evenings, you can cuddle up in your cabin or find a cosy bar and have a nice glass of wine in front of a log fire.
Après ski isn't top of the agenda in Beitostølen – the compact village is fairly sedate with just a few restaurants and bars, plus a couple of shops and supermarkets. For many, this is the appeal of Beitostølen and families always love the friendly resort. Even the mountain is gentle and incredibly easy to navigate – meaning the kids can fly around on their own without you worrying too much about them getting lost.
The ski school is superb, with all the instructors speaking fluent English and they’re great at looking after the little ones, taking them inside if it gets a little too cold. Whether you go for an apartment, hotel or one of the log cabins, you’ll get the best prices in Norway – and the food is superb, unless you self-cater, in which case it really depends who’s cooking.
