More about the skiing in Passo Tonale

  • So what's it like?

Great slopes for beginners and intermediates in an informal, fun resort

One of Italy’s highest resorts with sunny, snowsure slopes – ideal for beginners and timid intermediates.

Passo Tonale is located on the pass linking the regions of Trentino and Lombardy. The resort has a compact lift system with little to no queuing and all hotels are close to them. The snowsure slopes run mainly above the tree-line and get long hours of sunshine. Slopes are not very long, with little gradient and so ideal for children learning to ski, along with beginners.

Passo was developed purely as a ski resort so it’s a bit functional and not as picturesque as other towns and villages. That said, it’s got all you need - hotels, shops, bars and restaurants spread along the bottom of the main slope area. It’s excellent value for money and really lively, there’s a great selection of bars and cafes – one of our favourites is Bar Heaven, which is popular during happy hour and good for lively après ski. The resort also has a swimming pool where you’ll get discounted entry with your lift pass. There’s also a natural ice rink as well as cross-country skiing and skidoos.

    • 2 for 1 lift pass

Book early and get on the slopes for less. Buy one adult lift pass and get another one free when you book your ski holiday today.

Hurry – availability is very limited for 2 for 1 lift passes for some hotels, resorts or countries and when they're gone the offer will end.

Certain departure dates are also excluded. See terms and conditions for details.

    • €50 hotel credit

There'll be a credit of €50 waiting for you at the hotel with this offer. Use it in the bar or restaurant and save some cash while you're away.

      Terms apply.

    Ski information

    Ski Information Beginners

With 6 lifts for the beginner at village level, progress for first timers is normally fast and satisfying. Under careful tuition from the excellent English speaking instructors, in a few days the beginner is up on the higher slopes.

    Ski Information Intermediates

Intermediates can take the covered fast 4-seater chairlift to Cima Bleis to be rewarded with a long 4.5kms run in spectacular scenery. Head up the Valbiolo valley on the other side of Tonale and climb higher again to the more challenging Contrabandieri run with views across the whole valley. With an area lift pass, you can also enjoy the skiing at  Marilleva or Madonna di Campiglio, linked by skibus.

    Ski Information Advanced

There are some fast runs in Passo Tonale. On the south side of the village the Paradiso cable car rises to 2,585m and from here there is a knee trembling black run under the cable car. From the top of the glacier there are some great off-piste routes that a local guide will be able to show you, or further down in Ponte di Legno there are some great blacks through the trees.
