More about the skiing in Finkenberg

  • So what's it like?

A hidden gem in the Zillertal ski area

Finkenberg offers you a picturesque setting overlooking the resort of Mayrhofen with convenient access up to the heart of the Penken ski area. Quieter than Mayrhofen it is popular with families and those more interested in this fantastic ski area than a lively nightlife.

    Ski information

    Beginners

An ideal area for novices, the nursery slopes are easily accessible and you will soon progress onto gentle blue runs at Hasenmulden, near the top of the Penken Mountain.

    Intermediates

The Penken slopes offer plenty of scope for intermediates from long meandering runs to tricky mogul fields, and there is the advantage that you can usually ski right back to the village at the end of the day. The 'Zillertal 3000 Pass' covers the whole Ziller Valley, an intermediate's paradise, with access to Hintertux, one of Austria's best glaciers.

    Advanced

Finkenberg's north-facing Nordhang runs offer challenging mogul fields as well as the infamous 'Harakiri' piste - the steepest pisted black run in Austria with a 78% gradient! Try the long and exhilarating Katzenmoos descent or go up the Gerent to tackle the bumps of the Schafskopf.
