Disabled ski holidays

Crystal Adaptive

The latest innovative offering from Crystal Ski has arrived in the form of Crystal Adaptive – the whole package to make sure you enjoy a fully accessible and enjoyable ski holiday.

A Crystal Adaptive package includes flights, transfers and accommodation as standard. Our specialist team is available to answer any queries you may have around equipment hire, tuition, accommodation or the resort itself.

We have selected a range of resorts and accommodation across Europe and the USA to accommodate our disabled guests so simply take your pick from the Crystal Adaptive range.

By clicking through to the individual property pages you will find detailed information on their suitability, adaptive transfers to and from the airport and details on the ski schools we are working with.

Flights

Thomson Airways offers equipment carriage to Crystal Adaptive guests for £35 return. This includes both parts of the equipment; the skis and sit ski in transport cases. This service is only available on European flights operated by Thomson Airways.

Winter Park, USA

One of our favourite American resorts, Winter Park offers fantastic skiing and is the USA National Sports Centre for the Disabled, with 23,000 lessons provided annually for disabled people. The third largest ski area in Colorado, Winter Park is also conveniently located just 1.5 hours from Denver airport, a painless transfer time. You will be able to hire mono, bi or sit-skis, should you not have your own equipment. Or if you are hoping to learn then you will not find better instructors anywhere and you can be assured of a warm American welcome.

Recommended Crystal Adaptive accommodation: Fraser Crossing 4*
For great value and highly accessible accommodation in Winter Park, look no further than Fraser Crossing. The hotel is situated in the heart of the village and just a short distance from the ski lifts and adaptive centre. There are studios as well as one and two bedroom apartments, which boast full wheelchair and disabled facilities. Many of the rooms also have a lounge area and kitchenette so you can relax in your home away from home.

La Plagne, France

A high altitude resort, La Plagne is a renowned French ski destination not least because of the wide variety of skiing on offer. There are 425km of piste, shared between La Plagne and Les Arcs, linked by the Vanoise Express cable car. We have also found the resort staff to be very friendly and are happy to assist anyone with a disability – particularly when getting on and off the ski lifts.

Recommended Crystal Adaptive accommodation: Hotel Terra Nova 4*
The location of the Hotel Terra Nova makes it a Crystal Adaptive favourite, set at the foot of the slopes which means you can ski to the door. There is a green run at the door of this hotel with a blue run just next to it. This prime location also means that there are fantastic views of the piste from the main hotel restaurant.

Villars, Switzerland

A charming and authentic Swiss resort, Villars offers a great range of skiing for all abilities. This resort also has a ski school specifically for disabled skiers and the team of ski instructors are very accommodating. Villars itself is a fantastic resort with a great range of restaurants and some very lively bars.

Recommended Crystal Adaptive accommodation: Eurotel Victoria 4*
With several accessible rooms on the ground floor, this hotel is an excellent choice for a Crystal Adaptive holiday. Set right in the resort centre and just a few minutes from the Roc d´Orsay Gondola - this hotel has a great location for getting out and about.

Schladming, Austria

A popular destination for major snow sports events, Schladming has a diverse array of skiing and highly commendable amenities. The ski school provides tuition for all types of skier ability, with lesson and equipment packages available for 2 or 4 hours per day, dependent on your requirements.

Recommended Crystal Adaptive accommodation: Hotel AQI 3.5*
AQI is a modern hotel that sits in a superb location opposite the main Planai gondola in Schladming and is also just a short distance from the resort centre. Large, fully wheelchair accessible rooms with adapted facilities are on offer here which makes it a firm favourite with Crystal Adaptive. Importantly the bar and restaurant are also easily accessible.

Sestriere, Italy

Home of the 2006 Winter Paralympics, Sestriere has many amenities that make it a preferred resort for Crystal Adaptive holidays. It is easy to get from a vehicle to the bottom of the pistes and chair lifts. Further, the runs are long and varied making trips up in the lift more worthwhile.

Recommended Crystal Adaptive accommodation: Hotel Lago Losetta 3*
This hotel was actually used by participants during the Olympics and ticks all the boxes in terms of accessibility. All rooms and bathrooms are fully accessible and the hotel also boasts an accessible bus, which can take you to and from the resort and slopes.
