Les Sybelles is a new and developing ski area in the Maurienne Valley linking a number of villages, these include St Sorlin d'Arves and La Toussuire. With over 310km of piste and continual improvements being made to the pistes and ski lifts, the Les Sybelles area is an excellent alternative to the more expensive mainstream resorts. St Sorlin ski resort has the largest ski area and is a small, charming village with a typically French atmosphere and history dating back to the 17th century. La Toussuire ski resort is set in a bowl with skiing on most sides and has excellent lift access to the rest of the Les Sybelles area. Both resorts have a good range of off the slope activities and some excellent quality self catering accommodation.
Both resorts have informal, low-key but good value nightlife.
· St Sorlin - La Petite Ferme and L'Avalanche for après ski
· La Toussuire - Le Cairn bowling has a bar as well as bowling
· Snow shoe walks · Husky dog sleigh rides · Paragliding · Skidooing
Excellent value for money with a wide choice · 3 course dinner from around €30 · Pizza/pasta dishes from €9 · Fondue from €20.
· St Sorlin d'Arves - La Table de Marie for local specialities and L'Avalanche pizzeria
· La Toussuire - Les Soldanelles and Les Airelles for Savoyard specialities

There are plenty of confidence building green and blue runs throughout the ski area, as well as some gentle nursery slopes near both of the villages. With the nursery drag lifts and gentle slopes to master the basics, novice skiers will soon progress to the scenic runs at the top of the mountain.
The Sybelles offers plenty of terrain for intermediates, from wide open groomed runs at La Balme above St Sorlin, to the confidence building reds and blues of La Toussuire - there is certainly plenty to keep everyone happy!
There are six resorts covering 310kms of piste in Les Sybelles with a wide variety of terrain including a few challenging black runs and extensive off piste. Head over to St Colomban des Villards where the pistes are deserted and the scenery is beautiful for a unforgettable day.
Les Sybelles offers some enjoyable and varied terrain with plenty to test the freerider. There is a snow park in St. Sorlin, Le Corbier and La Toussuire as well as a free ride area at St. Sorlin. Beginners are well catered for with uncrowded, wide novice slopes.
