Resort Information

You can now try the fantastic Arctic adventure resort of Ylläs in magical Lapland. This resort is one of the largest ski areas in Finland with uncrowded slopes and a great choice of winter activities to try. A great choice for families, Ylläs is a full service ski and sport resort with an eye to the future and a new gondola lift on the Ylläsjärvi side.

There are two villages, Ylläsjärvi and Akäslompolo which are both unassuming in nature but with a range of local bars and restaurants and a regular ski bus to the lifts (free with the lift pass).

A range of Arctic activities including snowmobiling, husky dog sleigh rides, snowshowing, reindeer safaris, ice fishing and a visit to Santa.

Free ski bus in Ylläs during the day with a small charge in the evenings. See the Northern Lights (usually once in every 3 nights with a clear sky.

We recommend that you bring warm, light layered clothing and long thermal underwear.

Kindergarten available locally in Akäslompolo. Prices range from €5 per hour for 7 year olds to €10 per hour for infants.

Times show the total duration of the excursion.

Arctic Speed includes snowmobiling for 3 hours and dog sledging for 30 mins with some time to learn about the dogs. For the reindeer safari you are driven out to a reindeer farm to learn about the animals and enjoy a 30 minutes' sleigh ride.

Child (4-14 years) discount is 50% (25% for departures in December and 4th Jan). On snowmobile safaris this discount entitles children to travel in a sleigh behind the guide's snowmobile. On husky safaris, the child discount is for 2-12yrs.

The driver of a snowmobile must have a valid driving license. The snowmobile safaris include equipment, fuel, maintenance and insurance with a limited self liability of up to €505.
