This is a charming hotel in the smallest and most charming village in the ski area. The hotel's history dates back to 1739 and they are proud to retain the cosy, traditional feel that any good mountain inn should have. You will of course find modern comforts including a newly renovated indoor pool and comfortable, individually furnished bedrooms, however this is by no means a 'modernised' hotel and instead offers a delightful 'home from home' feel when you relax in deep, comfortable arm chairs by the roaring fire in the lounge. There is also a feeling of stepping back in time as you enjoy a drink in the rustic bar or admire the traditional, hand-painted furniture. The hotel's restaurant is located on the first floor and offers wonderful food and delightful views. The wholesome breakfast will set you up for your day on the mountain and on return there is an afternoon snack, served in the hotel's homely lounge. Evening meals are divine and the hotel's restaurant has been a favourite for gourmet diners for many years. Michelin has also discovered it and the hotel is listed amongst their Best Restaurants 2007. The delicious cuisine is often made with local produce and on Saturdays the meal is an extensive buffet of locally produced farm products - smoked meats, cheeses and an assortment of other specialities. The hotel's rustic, candle-lit wine cellar is also renown and they pride themselves on offering wines of the highest quality. A highlight of many guests' stay is the journey of wines offered by the hotel's sommelier during the weekly wine tasting evening. If you can bear to part from the log fire and delicious food you will find doorstep skiing and a 'state of the art' chairlift (with cover and heated seats!) to whisk you up into the ski area above Stuben's more famous neighbour, St. Anton. The hotel will be happy to help you arrange equipment hire and tuition if you'd like, and lift passes can be pre-booked or arranged on arrival. We're delighted to add this hotel as part of our selection in the Arlberg Ski Area. If you're looking for something a little different and somewhat off the beaten track, if you enjoy gourmet cuisine and if you like to experience the traditional side of a resort, this is a truly special place to go.
