Snow Range

560m-3250m

Superb skiing and stunning scenery

Fügen lies at the entrance to the Zillertal valley and has easy access to the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal and Spieljoch ski areas. Here you can explore 176km of pistes up to 2500m. Fügen itself is a lively village in its own right with a good variety of bars, restaurants and shops as well as the Erlebnis Therme Zillertal centre with thermal pools, wellness spa and ice rink. The Spieljoch has 21km of pistes and is a paradise for families. The Spieljoch gondola is on the edge of Fügen and easily reached by the free (with lift pass) ski bus that then continues to Hochfügen which links into155km of skiing over to Hochzillertal. There is also a ski bus from Fügen to the Hochzillertal lifts in Kaltenbach. You'll find skiing suitable for all abilities here and with 92km of red runs it's particularly recommended for intermediates.

Fügen is a great option for those who want to enjoy the fantastic Mayrhofen ski area whilst paying less than if you booked the equivalent accommodation in Mayrhofen itself. You have the convenience of the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal and Spieljoch ski areas close by as well as access by ski bus to the rest of the Mayrhofen ski area.

The slopes

Beginners

(Crystal rating uuu)

Beginners can learn on gentle nursery slopes with instructors to make sure you get the most out of your first ski trip.

Intermediates

(Crystal rating uuuuu)

The Ziller Valley is an intermediate's paradise with over 625km of piste stretching from the high altitude of the Hintertux Glacier to the large network of pistes at Hochzillertal/Hochfügen. All areas are linked by public transport - either ski buses or the valley's train line.

Advanced

(Crystal rating uuu)

There are tricky routes down the Penken Mountains to Schwendau and through the trees from the Ahorn (now served by the vast new Ahorn cable car from Mayrhofen. The Horberg ski area also offers a number of exciting long runs like the challenging Schafskopf mogul run. Don't miss a run down "Harakiri" - the steepest pisted black in Austria.

Snowboarding

(Crystal rating uuuu)

There is a snowpark and half pipe at Spieljoch to practice your skills. Throughout the area you'll find many broad carving pistes and some fantastic off-piste, great on powder days. Head to Mayrhofen for the hugely publicised Burton fun park, crammed full of features, boarder cross and quarter and half pipes.
